Why don't I see my new 311 case?
The City publishes new cases in batches, usually every 15–20 minutes. GroundWatch picks each batch up within about a minute. The map shows selected request types (illegal dumping, overflowing bins, water discharge and similar). To follow any case type, search its case number in My Cases.
What do the colors and pulses mean?
Green ring: open. Amber: the City says work is in progress (amber markers pulse gently). Gray: closed by the City. A bright green pulse or a JUST IN tag means the report came in within the last hour. Group bubbles show how many reports are there; their ring shows the open / in-progress / closed mix.
How do I keep my cases if I change phones?
Your followed cases live only on your device. In My Cases, tap Back up my cases, move the file to the new device, and use Restore from backup.
"Find my location" / "Near me" doesn't work
Allow location for GroundWatch in your phone or browser settings. Your location is used only on your device. To change the size of the circle, pick a distance in the Near you panel or drag the handle on the circle. Tap Turn off (or the location button again) to leave this mode.
How current is the weather?
Alerts and forecasts are the National Weather Service's official products for Los Angeles. Station readings come from seven official airport stations and can lag up to an hour. For rain totals, see LA County Public Works rain gauges.
