Terms of use
Effective October 2026 · Operated by the GroundWatch LA operator
Independent, not government
GroundWatch LA is an independent civic information project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the City of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, the Los Angeles Fire Department, the National Weather Service or any other agency. GroundWatch does not submit, change, close or reopen any City request. To report an issue to the City, use MyLA311 or call 311.
What the information means
- A 311 record is a resident's report as published by the City. It is not proof that a condition exists or still exists. "Closed" is the City's administrative status, not proof the work was done.
- Air-quality values on the map are modeled estimates, not monitor readings, unless labeled otherwise.
- Weather alerts and forecasts come from the National Weather Service; earthquakes from USGS; active wildfires from CAL FIRE and the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC); fire updates from LAFD. GroundWatch is not affiliated with Watch Duty, CAL FIRE or any agency; links to them are for your convenience. Each item links to its source. Data can be delayed, incomplete or wrong, and sources can be unavailable.
- Your notes in My Cases are your own and are never verified by GroundWatch or the City.
No warranty
GroundWatch is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Do not rely on it for safety, legal, health, insurance, real-estate or emergency decisions. To the extent the law allows, the operator is not liable for losses arising from use of the app or its data.
Fair use
Please don't overload the service, try to break its security, or present GroundWatch information as an official government notice. The public data remains subject to its publishers' terms. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, © OpenMapTiles; map tiles by OpenFreeMap.
